In the summer and fall of 2023, I had the occasion to work for the Gdańsk-based animation studio, Grupa Smacznego. As an illustrator, my job was to draw backgrounds for the Polish-German coproduction, The Very Hairy AlphabetIt was a new and interesting task for me, as I had not only to adapt to an art style very different from my own, but also to create pictures that, while appealing, would not disturb the focus on what the characters were doing.

Another job for the same studio was creating backgrounds for the teaser of a film based on a book by Polish author Cezary Harasimowicz, MirabelkaHere the situation was different, as the drawings were to be very rich and detailed, and very loosely based on the actual illustrations to the book.
