Verne's books - well, many of them - were among my childhood favorites. Mostly 20 000 Leagues... but also this one. This book is fairly realistic, so a lot of the work involved documenting myself on the various places the heroes visit, the ships, trains and elephants they use to voyage. Seems tedious at first, but it was really a very interesting task, a sort of detective work...
