This novel by the Nobel Prize winner Henryk Sienkiewicz is also a children literature classic. The adventures of a teenage Polish boy and a young English girl, first abducted by Mahdi's men and then lost somewhere in the middle of 19th century Africa, are well known to most Poles. Even though the book, first published in 1911, is now a bit dated, it's still a good read. As with 80 Days..., the really time-consuming part was finding the necessary documentation, especially photos of the places the heroes visit - and trying to resist the temptation to watch these beautiful landscapes for hours instead of working :-)
